CANNT actively supports and promotes certification in nephrology technology. The basic eligibility requirement for being examined for dialysis certification in Canada is the applicant’s active registration with their Provincial association as a Certified Engineering Technologist (CET), Applied Science Technologist (AScT), or Certified Technician (CTech).
1. The applicant shall have a minimum of three years' related experience (two years if the candidate is a graduate of a recognized post-secondary programme and has served an internship) working full time in a dialysis unit or in the dialysis industry.
Applicants who are graduates of a recognized biomedical post-secondary program accredited by the Canadian Technology Accreditation Board (CTAB), and/or recognized by the Board, will be allowed to count a maximum of 1-yr internship period as part of the 3 year requirement.
2. It is not necessary that the applicant be currently employed by a hospital, but it is required that the applicant has the above experience.
3. The applicant shall submit the names of at least 3 references for the dialysis technologist/technician certification. These references must be healthcare professionals who are familiar with the individual's competence in the following areas:
Clinical experience interfacing with physicians
