Clinical Nurse Specialist – Regular Full Time

University of Alberta Hospital – Northern Alberta Renal Program

Apply your ability to integrate theory, research and practice in this unique clinical practice leadership position.  As an innovator and change agent in pursuit of excellence in patient care, you will participate as a member of the Renal leadership team to provide guidance in clinical nursing practice and patient care. You will lead the Northern Alberta Renal Program (NARP) educator team at the University of Alberta Hospital and will facilitate clinical program development. Reporting to the Director of the Northern Alberta Renal Program, you will enhance patient care outcomes and staff professional development by: utilizing research to support and advance nephrology nursing care and evidence based practice; educating nurses; leading the development of policies and procedures within the Northern Alberta Renal Program; acting as a resource to program staff and actively involving yourself in the care of patients in the incentre and satellite hemodialysis units, the peritoneal dialysis program, the renal transplant program and the inpatient renal care units (5A2/5A4). You will be part of the nursing professional group within Alberta Health Services and have the opportunity to work with other Clinical Nurse Specialists and Nurse Practitioners along with the Professional Practice Leader for Nursing.

 

Qualifications:

  • A Master of Nursing plus 3 to 5 years Nephrology experience are required.
  • You will demonstrate excellent communication skills, a proven record of team leading, and the clinical experience and expertise required to make timely and accurate decisions in a very busy acute care setting.
  • Leadership experience is required.
  • Responsible to provide proof of active registration with the College & Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA) and to maintain registration throughout the duration of employment.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) - Healthcare Provider Registration.

      Fresenius Medical Care Canada, the world leader in quality dialysis products and services, is looking for a Regional Service Technician to join our team in Dorval, Quebec.
        Title:  Regional Service Technician
        Location:  Dorval
        Reporting to:  National Service Manager

        Responsibilities:

      • Repair and perform preventive maintenance on Fresenius Medical Care equipment as per manufacturing specifications.
      • Provide and maintain documentation on all service/maintenance performed on Fresenius Medical Care equipment.
      • Conduct and document the functional checks/calibrations required on all Fresenius equipment before delivery and installation at customer site.
      • Complete appropriate paper work to return defective modules and spare parts to Fresenius Medical Care.
      • Modify and/or retrofit Fresenius Medical Care equipment according to the installation procedures set out by the manufacturer.
      • Participate in equipment evaluations and provide technical support/in-services as part of the selling process.
      • Provide technical support (phone and on-site) to Regional Sales Consultants and/or to customers on all equipment-related matters and in a timely fashion.
      • Assume the responsibility of being “ON CALL” when required.
      • Adhere to ISO rules and regulations.
      • Help in keeping the Technical Department at the Dorval Office clean and in order.

      Perform other duties as required.

      Experience, Skills, Educational Requirements:

      • Graduate of a 2-3 year college program in Biomedical Engineering, Electronics or Instrumentation.
      • A minimum of 3 years of field service experience in the medical field, dialysis experience would be an asset.
      • Must be fully bilingual (English/French)
