It is hard to believe spring is finally here. The snow is melting and flowers are starting to bloom.
One sure sign of spring is the annual writing of the CNAcertification exam. CANNT would like to wish good luck to those members who will be writing their C Neph exam on April 20th. I would also like to express congratulations to all those that have chosen to recertify this year. Your continued dedication to the field of Nephrology is evident by your commitment to maintaining your certification. CANNT tries to recognize their members’ dedication by offering a certification/recertification bursary. CANNT awards a bursary to one member from each region to cover the cost of successful Certification /Recertification (CNeph(C) or cdt). Applicants may apply for this award after writing the exam or receiving confirmation of successful recertification. The deadline to apply is May 1st, 2013.

Opportunities for awards and bursaries:
CANNT would like to recognize and celebrate excellence in our colleagues through our annual CANNT Award of Excellence awards. You can nominate a fellow CANNT member in thefollowing areas of practice: Clinical Practice, Technological Practice, Administration/ Leadership, Research, Education or Novice Nursing.
In addition, there are other bursaries and grant available each year to CANNT members. CANNT awards up to $2000.00 annually to three qualified nephrology practitioners for continuing education related to their professional development. CANNT also offers a Research Grant of up to $3000.00 for an original research study in the area of nephrology nursing or technology.
There are also several other awards and bursaries offer by Amgen and administered by CANNT. Please visit the CANNT website for more details on all bursaries and awards available. Deadline for application is May 1st, 2013.
Opportunities to become board members:
CANNT Nominating Committee is looking for CANNT Members to apply for the following positions on the CANNT Board of Directors: President Elect (3 year term), Website Coordinator/Treasurer (2 year term), Vice President Quebec (2 year term) and Vice President Atlantic Region (2 year term). Deadline for application is May 15, 2013 and nomination forms can be found on the CANNT website.
Opportunities available to attend some regional conferences:
· Regina is hosting Saskatchewan Nephrology Days: Keeping the Focus but Moving Forward on May 29th and 30th 2013 at the Hotel Saskatchewan Radisson Plaza, Regina.
· The Atlantic Region is hosting their annual regional conference: Nephrology Nursing:Expanding Our Horizons on June 7& 8, 2013 at the Park Place Ramada Hotel and Conference Centre, Dartmouth, NS.
